Catherine Jeanne March, 91, passed away on Tuesday April 4th, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls. She formerly resided on Mechanic Street in the village.

Catherine was born on April 17, 1931, in Hoosick Falls, one of ten children of the late Charles and Stella (Alecknavic) Yavaniski. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.

Catherine was known by many in the village due to her 30 years in banking. She took great pride in helping her customers and retired in 1993 from Trustco Bank. In her time at home, she was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and made sure her loved ones were never without hand-knitted sweaters, beanies, and afghans to keep them warm.

Survivors include her children, Gregory, Stephanie and Bruce March, grandchildren, Kate Shasha, Sarah March and Sydney March, great grandchildren Jack Hornbeck and William Shasha, sister Margaret Yavaniski and brother Robert “Butch” (Lori) Yavaniski.

Relatives and friends may call at the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Wednesday, April 12th starting at 10:00 AM, until the start of the Mass of Christian Burial, which will begin at 11:00. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, who are handling the arrangements.
