Ralph E. Philpott, 98, passed away on Wednesday September 28th at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Rose Philpott who died several years ago. Ralph formerly resided on the Breese Hollow Road and more recently at Woodbridge Heights in Hoosick Falls.

Ralph was born on September 30, 1923, in Hoosick, NY, son of the late Guy and Jenny (Hass) Philpott. He was formerly employed at Fairdale Farms and Dunham Furniture both in Bennington, VT. Ralph was very active in several fire departments having served in the Pownal Center, Deleon Springs, Florida, Massachusetts and Hoosick Rural stations. He was also a member of the Hoosick Grange, Eastern Starr and a past member of the National Guard. Ralph enjoyed playing cribbage and going camping.

Survivors include his daughter Beverly (William) Stearns, grandchildren Connie (Ted) Hoag and Doug (Dawn) Stearns also four great grandchildren Kenny Hoag, Danny Hoag, Shelby Stearns and Reagan Stearns and one great great grandchild Spencer Hoag. He was predeceased by two sisters Florence Perry, Margaret Boutin and three brothers George, Melvin and Clinton Philpott.

Funeral services will be held on Monday October 3rd at 1:00 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial will follow the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 pm until the start of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Fire Department, Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad or the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
