Obituary for Anne Molson Beck (Morgan)

The children of Anne Molson (Morgan) Beck are saddened to announce the passing of their mother on July 25, 2022 in her 96th year.  Anne died peacefully in the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center surrounded by loving family.  Anne was born on October 12, 1926 in Montreal, Quebec, the eldest child of Theodore Gold Morgan and Margaret Molson Morgan.

Anne met the love of her life on a blind date, Alfred E. Beck, a WWII veteran studying at the M.I.T., while she was attending the Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, MA. They married after Al graduated and soon started their family. They moved to Utah, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and settled in their later years on Vinalhaven, Maine which had been their favourite sailing destination aboard their Friendship Sloop, Phoenix. Five years after Al’s death, September 2005, Anne made her final move to Equinox Village in Manchester Center, Vermont.

Family was very important to Anne. She enjoyed visiting her relatives near and far and took great pride in gathering her family for special occasions. She hosted wonderful Christmases in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.

Anne played bridge most of her life and was quite competitive until the arrival of COVID interrupted such gatherings. Over the years she skunked most of her children and grandchildren playing cribbage.

She enjoyed quilting, flower arranging and knitting (especially Christmas stockings for her growing family).

Anne volunteered with both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, Family and Children Services in NJ, The League of Woman Voters, The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, and both the Exeter and Vinalhaven Garden Clubs.

She is survived by her two siblings, Martha McKenna and John Morgan of Montreal.  She leaves behind her 5 children, Bill Beck (Gina Durfee) of Citra, Florida, Margot Beck of Braeshore, Nova Scotia, Barbie Beck-Wilczek (Bill Wilczek) of Littleton, New Hampshire, Kathy Moses of Eagle Bridge, New York and Tad Beck (Grant Wahlquist) of Vinalhaven, Maine, eight grandchildren (Erica, Nicole, Peter, Adrian, Katie, Lauren, Mallory and Seth) and twelve great grandchildren (Charlie, Anica, Danny, Makenzie, Mo, Sawyer, Nova, Jade, Evan, Emmitt, Kira and Ashton).

She was predeceased by her husband, Al, of 50 years and two son-in-laws Jim Oliver and Richard Moses.

The family would like to thank the caring nurses at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the staff at Equinox Village, and Melissa Morrison along with her wonderful caregivers at Home Senior Care.  Thank you to all who enabled our mother to live a full life to the end.

Cremation will take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to a charity of your choice.

A private celebration of Anne’s life will take place at Equinox Village on October 1, 2022.
