Obituary for Blanche Jones

Blanche Jones, 88, passed away Sunday, February 27th at the Glens Falls Hospital after a brief illness. She was the fourth daughter born January 21, 1934, on the family homestead to Jay and Grace Sherman.

Blanche graduated from Hoosick Falls High School in 1951. She married her one true love, Howard Jones on November 12, 1954. They were married sixty-four glorious years until Howard's passing in 2018. Apart from the last four years in assisted living in Cambridge, she was a lifelong resident of Buskirk, NY.

She is survived by her sons Howard Jr., of Palatka, FL, Paul (Kim) of Hoosick Falls, NY, Douglas (Zelda) of Stephens City, VA, daughter Lynn (Ellis) of Buskirk, NY, daughter-in-law Cindy of Hoosick Falls, NY and brother-in-law Raymond Albergine of Cambridge, NY. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and Joan LeBarron a good friend for over sixty-years

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her son Harold Jay, granddaughter Mindy and her sisters Doris Townsend, Irene Albergine and Arlene Reyman.

Family was everything to Blanche. She and Howard built their lives around their children, grandchildren and extended family. She was a great cook and enjoyed feeding her large family, as well as any friends or family who stopped by. She loved to visit over a cup of hot coffee. You couldn't miss Howard and Blanche sitting in their lawn chairs, if you drove through Buskirk on Route 67. They waved to you as you rode by whether they knew you or not.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. They don't make little ladies like her anymore. She was a woman of strong faith, integrity, and family values. Blanche was a member of the Eagle Bridge United Methodist Church.

Services will be held later in the spring. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Bridge United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
