Obituary for John F. McMahon Jr.

John F. McMahon Jr., 59, passed away on December 25th at his residence surrounded by his family. He resided on Indian Massacre Road with his wife Denise (Van Der Kar) McMahon.

John was born on October 27, 1962, in Troy, NY, son of John F. and Mary (Andrews) McMahon Sr. of North Petersburg. He graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School and was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1984-1986. John was a self-employed truck driver, owning his own business, McMahon Trucking, LLC, starting in 2001. His most recent truck was purchased in 2006, logging over one million miles on the truck. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, camping, riding dirt bikes, side by sides, snowmobiles and going to Harley Davidson Rallies.

Survivors other than his wife Denise and parents John and Mary include his sons TJ (Tiffany) McMahon and Travis McMahon all of Hoosick Falls, NY, sister Kathy (Gary) Yavaniski of Valley Falls, NY, brothers Dan (Mollie) McMahon of North Petersburg and Thom (Meghan) McMahon of Manchester Center, VT, grandchildren Avery McMahon, Richie and Russell Stifter and arriving in March of 2022, Jaxson John McMahon.

Funeral services will be Friday December 31st, at 12:00 pm (noon), on the family farm in North Petersburg, family and friends are welcome.

Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY on Thursday December 30th, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the EC Fund or the Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
