Obituary for Reta Mae Danforth

Reta Mae Danforth, 94, passed away on Thursday December 2, 2021, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont. She resided at the Wood Park Apartments in Hoosick Falls.

Reta was born on May 3, 1927, in Hoosick Falls, daughter of the late Medause and Lola (Bailey) LaMagdeline. She attended school in Hoosick Falls and worked at several area companies including Nancy Shoe, Albany Felt and health care facilities the Health Center and Danforth Adult Home. Her last employment was with the Kiddie Kar Child Care, where she was a foster grandparent. Reta was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she also was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors include her children son Paul (Nancy) Danforth of Hoosick Falls, NY, daughters Rose (Doug) Johnson of Williamstown, MA, Debbie (Alan, predeceased) Rawling of Shingle Hollow, Nancy (Charles) Thurber of Hoosick Falls, also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Reta is predeceased by a son Mark Danforth and five sisters Velma Blazejewski, Anna Lockrow, Yvonne Kilburn, Joyce & Joan LaMagdeline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday December 17th, at 11:00 am, from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the local food pantry or second chance animal shelter through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls who are handling the arrangements. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THE SERVICE.
