Obituary for Harold George Nichols Jr.

Harold George Nichols Jr., 90, passed away on Friday September 10th, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation. He and his wife Marcia (Barrington) formerly resided on Congress Street in Hoosick Falls.

Harold was born on June 24, 1931, in Albany, NY, son of the late Harold George Nichols Sr. and Mary (Milburn) Nichols. Harold was employed at Action Transportation in Albany, NY as a driver. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict, from 1952-1954. Harold was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. And the Republican Party all in Hoosick Falls. He enjoyed watching military movies, reading and was a Yankee fan.

Survivors other than his wife Marcia include their sons Harold “Nick” (Lucy) Nichols of Virginia Beach, Robert Nichols of Norfolk, VA, Jeffery Nichols of Johnsonville, NY and Greg Nichols of Hoosick Falls, sister Beverly Tomisman of Rensselaer, NY, also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Harold is predeceased by his wife Ann (Fontanelli) Nichols, two daughters Catherine and Deborah Nichols, a sister Clair Steverson and a brother Bruce Nichols.

Services with military honors will be held on Monday September 20th, at 11:30 am, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon/Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either the V.F.W. or the American Legion both in Hoosick Falls, through the Mahar Funeral home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls who are handling the arrangements.
