Obituary for Ervin J "Erv" Starr Sr.
Ervin J. “Erv” Starr Sr., 68, beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Friend and Coach, passed away on Wednesday May 19, 2021, at his residence on Scotch Hill Road.
Erv was born on July 28, 1952, in Cambridge, NY, son of the late Robert and Emily (Gates) Starr. He graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School and Electrical Trade School. He was a self-employed Master Carpenter, working in the Cambridge and Town of Hoosick areas. Erv enjoyed many activities some of which included, golf, horseshoes, darts, hunting and shooting pool. He most enjoyed coaching and watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Erv also coached Little League teams and Miss Softball teams.
Survivors include his children Jennifer (Anthony) Starr, Ervin J. (Carrie) Starr Jr., Jason (Heather) Starr and Adam (Kristian) Pierce, his nine grandchildren Mikayla, Brianna, Connor, Shane, Kadyn, Ty, Cody, Andyn and Cameron. Erv is also survived by two sisters Frances Grant and Helen Matte, a brother William Starr and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Starr.
Erv's family will host calling hours on Saturday May 22nd, from 9:00 – 11;00am at the Ondawa Greens Club House, 217 Scotch Hill Road, Cambridge, NY. At 11:00am they will conclude with a brief Memorial Service, where guests are welcome to share a favorite memory of Erv. Friends and family are welcome to join the family for a round of golf in Erv's honor after the service.
Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Cambridge Little League or the Hoosick Falls Little League, through the funeral home.
