Brian D. Appel, 63, passed away on Wednesday January 20th at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He resided on the Hill Road in
Hoosick with his companion Suzanne Ouellette.

Brian was born on August 4, 1957, in Cambridge, NY, the second of 5 sons, to Joyce A. (Jones) Appel of Hoosick and the late Robert W. Appel Sr. He was a proud and strong veteran of the United States Marine Corp. having served from 1975 until his honorable discharge in 1980. Brian was employed at St Gobain in Hoosick Falls for several years until his retirement in 2019.

He was an avid bowler, bowling on teams with his father and brothers at the Bar B Que Lanes in Hoosick Falls and at times traveling with them to Rochester, NY for tournaments. He was a member of the St. Stanislaw Society in Hoosick Falls and was an unwavering fan of both the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Rams. Brian was well known among many not only for his quick wit, sarcasm and keen sense of humor but for his love and never ending devotion to family.

Survivors other than his mother and companion include his brothers Robert Jr. (Debbie) of Pittstown, NY, Dennis (Chris) of North Adams, MA, David of King of Prussia, PA, Michael (JoAnn) of Bennington, VT, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43
Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund or Second Chance Animal Shelter through the funeral home.

Well, I am so saddened by this news. Brian was a next door neighbor and classmate. He was a kind boy, always happy. We had so much fun in our neighborhood playing baseball, dish, riding bikes. The his family, I send my deep condolences. Donna Cameron Fitzpatrick
