Obituary

Carleton E. Philpott, 88 entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 26th, 2020 at his home in Petersburgh Junction.

Born on October 30th, 1931 in Hoosick Falls, New York, son of Earl and Etta (Brock) Philpott; he graduated Hoosick Falls High School in 1951 and was a lifelong farmer with his father, and later his son Christopher at their Petersburgh Junction farm.

United in holy matrimony November 14th, 1953 to Corinne L. Riley, they remained devoted to one another all of their lives. They enjoyed many years of square dancing together with the Catamount Gadabouts.

Active in Scouting, he was the Scoutmaster of Troop 67 Hoosick, New York for over 40 years.

Carleton was a lifelong member of Hoosick Grange, and was a strong advocate for the agricultural community.

He is survived by son Christopher, daughter-in-law Kay and granddaughter Allison. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur O. Burdick and wife Corinne.

Services will be private, at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Hoosick Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Mahar Funeral Home of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Christopher, Kay, and Allison - I am so sorry to hear that you have to go through these tragic moments again so soon. Your Mom & Dad were a wonderful couple and always so willing to give of their time and talents to the Grange. Your Dad was always ready with his hammer and whatever was needed to make sure Hoosick and Pomona Grange had an eye-catching booth at the Schaghticoke Fair. They will be missed by us all! Allison, you were the apple of their eye. My sincere condolences go to you all. I know you will also miss them dearly!
