Obituary for JOHN H. Powers
John H. Powers, 81, passed away on February 19th at his residence on Kim Court, Buskirk. He resided there with his wife Brenda (Rochefort) Powers and family.
John was born on October 17, 1937, in Troy, NY, son of the late John H. and Lucy (Major) Powers. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1975 – 1997. John was employed at the Vermont Veterans Home and retired from Mt Anthony Middle School where he was a custodian. He enjoyed working on old cars, going to the races and spending time with Sonny.
Survivors other than his wife Brenda include their children Phyllis Sweet (Roger), Cecilia Harrington (Dale), John E. Powers, Wayne Powers (Lisa), Van B. Church Jr., brother James Powers, sister Betty Winters also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Paul and Walter Powers.
Funeral services will be Wednesday February 27th, at 1:00 pm, from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 (Noon) until the start of the service. Entombment will follow the service at Gerald B.H. Solomon/Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Vermont Veterans Home Activity Fund or Second Chance Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
