Obituary for Charles Ray Vogler

Charles “Ray” Vogler died Tuesday, December 26th at his residence. Ray was the husband of Jane Vogler who died in 2010. Ray and Jane were married in Hoosick Falls on July 14, 1951.

Ray was born on November 29, 1928 in Hoosick Falls son of Beatrice (Bailey) Vogler Maleady and Charles F. Vogler; step-son of George Maleady. He lived his entire life in Hoosick Falls, graduating from St. Mary’s’ Academy in 1946. He served in the US Army from 1946-1947 during the Army occupation in Japan. He joined the National Guard in 1947 and served until 1988 rising to the rank of Sergeant Major. Also, while in the National Guard, he did a tour of duty in Germany and Italy. He retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years of service.

Ray was a life time member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved to hunt deer and play golf. He had 3 holes in one, all witnessed.

Survivors include his daughter Patty Post (Rodd) of Grafton, NY, sons Steve Vogler (Karen) of Grafton, NY, William Vogler (Suzanne) of Ledgewood, NJ, also four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and his sister Betty (Bernie) Graney of Hoosick Falls. He is predeceased by sisters Johanna (Art) Hyde and Mary Maleady.

Relatives and friends may call at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls on January 2nd from 10:00am – 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Church at 11:00am. Burial will be at 1:00 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Pioneer Fish and Game Club or the Wounded Warriors Program through the funeral home.
