Obituary for Joshua J. Matatt

 

Joshua J. Matatt, 32, passed away on Sunday December 3rd at his residence on Route 67 in Walloomsac. He was the husband of Renee (Prokopiak) Matatt.

Joshua was born on January 9, 1985, son of Arthur and Denise (LaFountain) Matatt. He graduated from Cambridge Central School in 2004. While in school he played football, basketball and baseball. He started his football career in the Cambridge Valley Athletic Association and continued through the ranks playing four years of varsity football at Cambridge Central School. He was known as the “Orange Crush”. Joshua received several awards in his football career including Post Star All Star Defensive Player of the Year 2003, Donald Luke Memorial Award, National Division II First Team Defense, Northeast Regional Class D Outstanding Offensive Player 2003, Player of the Game October 3rd 2003 verse Lake George and Player of the Year. He also excelled in Basketball participating in the Junior Nationals in Ohio. Joshua was employed at Taconic Plastics in Petersburgh, NY. He enjoyed fishing, going to concerts and music in general and was a New England Patriots fan.

Survivors other than his parents and wife include his daughter Isabella Matatt of Eagle Bridge, NY and brothers Aaron and Dustin Matatt both of Cambridge, NY.

Funeral services will be Saturday December 9th at 9:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10:00 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at the Center Shaftsbury Cemetery in Shaftsbury, Vermont. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday December 8th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
