Joseph (Joe) Donato DiFusco, Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully from this life on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, with his beloved wife, Wanda by his side on the feast day of St. Paul.
Mourning his passing are his six children, daughter Sherrie O'Connell and her husband Gary, daughter Debra Nichols and her husband Gary, daughter Eva Bunnell and her husband Charles, daughter Kimberly Ley and her partner Carl Hyburg, son Joseph DiFusco and his wife Denise, and son Daniel DiFusco and his wife Jennifer. He leaves twenty-four beloved grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jacinta Bunnell. He leaves a brother, Anthony DiFusco, and a sister, Irene DiFusco. He was predeceased by a sister, Susan Sharpe. He leaves many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many much loved friends.
Born to Joseph, Sr. and Louise (Aiello) DiFusco on August 3, 1938 in New Britain, Connecticut. Joe served proudly in the armed forces, including the Air Force-where he met and married Wanda, the Army, Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. His service to his country spanned nearly forty years. In between and after serving in the military, Joe enjoyed several careers, including barbering, running a horseback riding stables, obtaining his R.N. degree, and finally, co-founding a non-profit with Wanda, the San Damiano Franciscan Community and services for children with disabilities. He was enrolled as a Franciscan Brother and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday January 29 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Regional Food Bank through the funeral home.
