Obituary for Charles E Rayner

Charles E. Rayner, 81, passed away on Friday April 1, at the Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He resided in North Bennington.
Charles was born on December 4, 1934, in Athol, Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph S. and Mildred O. (Munsil) Rayner. He was educated at schools in Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as an Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. During peacetime. Charles attended Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa before moving to Hoosick Falls where he set up practice and later worked as a foreman at General Cable in Pownal, VT. He lived a full and healthy life keeping active with his passions for hunting, fishing, working in his gardens and the time spent with his family.
Survivors include his daughters Jackolyn Sullivan (Thomas) of North Hoosick, NY, Robin Mulligan (Jamie) of Buskirk, NY, Terry Yavaniski (Charles) and son Chris Rayner all of Hoosick Falls, NY , stepdaughter Joan Carr of Bennington, VT, stepsons Ivan Matte (Wanda) of Cambridge, NY and Joseph Matte of San Francisco, CA sisters Virginia Lee of Athol, MA, Patricia Bailey of Phillipson, Ma, brother Roger Rayner of Athol, MA, grandchildren Thomas Sullivan Jr. (Tiffany), Michael Sullivan (Kate), Pamela Cuccuini (John), Michelle Willbrant (Kevin), Lindsey, Alex, and Christopher Rayner, Edward Mulligan (Brandie), Michael Mulligan (Brittney), Jessica and Brian Davis, Ashlee, Hunter and C.J. Yavaniski, Ellora and Abigail Carr and Deidre Matte, great grandchildren, Axiana, Isabella, John, Joseph, Emmitt, Addison, Owen, Dylan, Marshall, Andrew and Johnathon, also several nieces, nephews and special friend Jo-Ann Corrente. Charles is predeceased by his wife Patricia Rayner, former wife Audrey Rayner, daughter Shelia Rayner, grandson Aaron Carr, three sisters Marjorie Norskow, Hazel Leavitt and Alice Guerrin also two brothers Joseph and Richard Rayner.
Funeral services will be Monday April 4, at 6:00 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 pm until the start of the service. Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 am at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Pioneer Fish & Game Club or Paralyzed Veterans of America through the funeral home.
