Obituary for Gunther K.W. Pagel
Gunther K.W. Pagel, 96, passed away on Tuesday August 27th, at the Eddy Memorial Geriatic Center in Troy, NY. He formerly reisided in Hoosick, NY and was the husband of the late Irene Pagel.
Gunther was born on May 19, 1923, in Hanover, Germany, son of the late Ludwig and Marie (Schmidt) Pagel. He received his Bacholor's Degree in Theology. Gunther was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WW II, attaining the rank of Staff Sergent. He also served as a Director of Boy's Town in Georgia, Superintendent of Children's Home in Oviedo, FL, was a thirty year member of the Magic & Illusinest Club and a member of the Society of American Magicians.
Survivors include his niece Giesala of Germany, two God Daughter's Linda Easter of NC and Kara Osselmann of MA, and close friend Chris Walker of Troy, NY. He is predeceased by two brothers Rolf and Hans Pagel.
Funeral services will be Tuesday September 3rd, at 10:00 am, from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial will follow the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick, NY. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour Radio Program through the funeral home.
