Obituary for Edward Gulley

Edward Gulley, 65, passed peacefully Monday August 13th, 2018 at his beloved Bejosh Farm, having fought a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born November 20, 1952, in White Creek to the late Albert and Alice (Noyes) Gulley.

He received his education at Hoosick Falls Central School and attended Cobleskill College. Ed returned to his family farm where he worked alongside his father until his death in 1988 when he took over the farm.

Ed was a man of many talents, cows and dogs were his best friends and companions. He was especially proud of his Brown Swiss and was striving to raise some competitive show Swiss. He could be seen out at the free stall barn wearing his ever popular cameo outfits or baling hay and chopping corn with at least one dog in the tractor.

Over the last three years Ed and Carol published a farm blog which told a down to earth, true story of day to day life on Bejosh, the good and the bad. He had formed an amazing friendship with Jon and Maria Katz of Bedlam Farm who encouraged his “farm art” and various creations along with initiating the Blog. At the time of his passing he was blessed to have followers from all over the world, literally. Their prayers and messages of hope kept him going.

He leaves his wife of forty-seven years, Carolyn (Becker) Gulley, who worked alongside him on the farm and together they raised four children, Chad (Kate) Gulley of Greenwich, NY, Maggie (Tony) Thayne of Hoosick Falls, NY, Jeremy (Allison) Gulley of White Creek, NY and Jess Gulley of White Creek, NY. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Kaylah, Olivia, Jayda, Jordan, Logan, Tucker, Jaiboy, Jeb, Skylar and Cooper, his brother William (Bud) Gulley (Gwen) of Little Falls, NY along with several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by a sister Alice (Gulley) Turner.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 19th at 2:00 pm, at the Bejosh Farm, 10 Chestnut Hill Road in White Creek, NY. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery, White Creek, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the Farm on Thursday August 16th, from 4:00-7:00 pm and on Sunday the 19th from 1:00-2:00 pm. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Staff, especially Marsha and Penny, for the wonderful care they gave him along with creating a unique friendship.
