Obituary for Ronald J. Dooley

Ronald J. Dooley, 78, lifetime resident of Hoosick Falls NY, died Monday, Dec. 4th following a brief battle with cancer. Ron leaves behind his wife, Lorraine Dooley. Father of Roxanne Hilsman (Gray), Brian Dooley (Natasha), John R. Dooley (Patricia), Karen Lewsey Hoyt, David Lewsey (Tammy), Michael Lewsey (Susan), Maureen Doran (Robert) and Margaret Bromirski (Matthew). He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; Kenneth Dooley, Gary Dooley (Donna), Marguerite Rice, and Deborah Spiak (Joseph). Ron was "Grandpa Dooley" to many grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He also left behind several nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear family friends Richard Palermino (Elizabeth) and Edward Granger. Ron will be missed by a wonderful network of fellow hunters and loyal friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents Harold and Lida Dooley; brothers Francis Dooley, Harold Dooley and Carl Dooley; and sister Gladys Ryan.

Ron graduated from Hoosick Falls Central school in 1956, and attended SUNY Oswego and St. Joseph Business School. He was a corrugated box salesman for many years prior to establishing Professional Packaging Services, which he and Lorraine owned and operated for 35 years. Ron was known and recognized for his endless generosity. He was a member and officer at the Elks Lodge 178, and a lifelong member of the Polish Hall. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on his property, known as "Happyland." Ron also had a passion for cooking and sharing food with family and friends.

To honor Ron’s memory, the family will have a celebration of his life in June 2018 (to be announced/published). Contributions in memory of Ron may be made to The Karen & Molly McGovern fund at P.O Box 132, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Center of Nursing and Rehab in Hoosick Falls, for their care and compassion during his final days.
They would also like to give a special and heartfelt thanks to Marcus Martinez M.D.; for his constant care, support and friendship.
