Obituary for Anne Richter Hambright

Anne Richter Hambright, a long-time resident of Washingtonville, NY, died Thursday the 9th of November at The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY.

Born in 1926 in New York City, daughter of Frank and Theresa (Wukovitz) Richter. Anne graduated from Straubenmuller Textile High School and worked at R.H. Macy’s upon graduation. Later, she was a bookkeeper for many years and retired from M.H. Lamston’s, a chain of variety stores in the New York City area.

Anne was married to Erwin Hambright Sr., who predeceased her in 1966. She lived and raised her family in Brooklyn (Bensonhurst), and then moved to Washingtonville after retirement, where she was an active member of the Rocky Knoll social club. She enjoyed the company of friends and calling bingo at the Thursday gatherings.

She is survived by sons, Peter Hambright of Flushing, NY, and Erwin Hambright Jr. (Thea) of Hoosick Falls, as well as nephew Anthony (Margaret) Sogluizzo of Brooklyn, nieces Arlene Sogluizzo of Brooklyn, Joan (Charles) Grennan of California, and great nephews and nieces. Her sisters, Mary Sogluizzo and Theresa Famularo, brother Joseph Richter, and nephew Robert Sogluizzo predeceased Anne.

Anne loved Brooklyn and the old neighborhood, being with her family, casino excursions with her nieces, traveling to Austria to meet relatives, and a Tangueray gin martini on the rocks with two olives.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY, under the direction of Mahar Funeral Home, Hoosick Falls, NY.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for their extraordinary kindness and compassion.
