Obituary for Delight H Cullen

Delight H. Cullen, 88, passed away on Thursday March 23, surrounded by her family at Albany Medical Center. She resided on River Street in Hoosick Falls and was the wife of the late Joseph J. Cullen who died in 2015. Delight was born on February 11, 1929, in Stillwater, New York, daughter of the late Artemus and Rilla (Woodard) Hogan. She graduated from the Walter A. Wood High School and was an honorary Alumnus of St. Mary’s Academy.

She worked in various positions in the health care field, retiring from Rensselaer County Department of Aging as a Director. She was also a founding member of the Rural Rensselaer County Council for Health & Human Services; continued carrying out its mission after her retirement. She was an integral part of the Karen and Molly McGovern Memorial Fund Board of Directors, which held a special place in her heart.

While raising her children she was active in the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Little League. Delight was active at SMA, and at Immaculate Conception Church throughout her life. She was a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Health Center Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include her daughters Elizabeth L. Cullen(Robert Alexander) of Albany, NY and M. Patrice Zedalis(Joseph) of Hoosick Falls, NY, son Kevin E. Cullen(Cindy) of Schenectady, NY, grandchildren Caleb Cullen (Danielle) of Schenectady, NY, Kady Cullen of Colonie, NY, Kallyn Alexander of Albany, NY and Conner and Payton Zedalis both of Hoosick Falls, NY, her sister-in-law Rita Hogan of Loudonville, NY and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dog Sam. Delight is predeceased by a sister Helen R. Hogan and two brothers Earl D. and A Woodard Hogan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday March 28, at 10:00 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon/Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Monday March 27 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund or St. Mary's Academy through the funeral home.
