Hoosick Falls, New York
Ed Skorupski son of John and Virginia (Bearup) Skorupski died on March 10,
2017. He is pre-deceased by his grandparents Frank and Virginia Bearup, and Edmund and
Zita Skorupski. He is survived by his mother Virginia, sister Stacia, and brother Thomas as
well as his beloved children Jack,Eva,Everett and their mother Melia Cogan. In addition, many
aunts, uncles, cousins neices, nephews and friends from all parts of the world. He had devoted and
fast friends from a select yet diverse group of people.
Born in South Florida in 1968. Ed spent his formative years at Babcock Lake and the Hoosick Falls area. He graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School, Williams College and Law School at the University of Georgia. He was a very capable student with exceptional analytical and writing skills.
During his life he traveled widely into Southeast Asia where he worked on a United Nations sponsored Sustainable Development project. While serving in the U.S. Navy on the Frigate U.S.S. Carr his world travels expanded into the Persian Gulf and many other ports of call.
On the surface Ed was a big ,tough, brilliant, word wise man who suffered no fools, yet he was so much more. Ed was a tender hearted homebody who loved music, gardening, rock collecting, cooking, painting and most of all being a father. His meals and paintings were sought after by people who knew of his talents.
He loved college football and was a rabid Georgia Bulldogs fan. In fact he loved the State of Georgia, and Charlton County where he settled, opened a law practice, got married and had three children. In addition to his private law practice, he served for many years as the County Attorney as well as Solicitor for the State Court of Georgia. He was a natural born lawyer with a remarkable mind, human compassion, a big voice, and huge presence in the courtroom. He had a deep respect for our legal system and loved having an intimate
knowledge of the law.
His family, friends, and clients would agree that cancer stole much from all of us by causing Eds death. He leaves so much unfinished... the world is not the same with him gone.
Our family would like to thank many, in particular the Hospice team- who fought through snow, ice, and mud to help Ed.
