Obituary for Dawn E "Dawnie" Gilbert

Dawn E. “Dawnie” Gilbert 71, passed away on Sunday November 9 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy,New York. She resided on the River Road with her husband Donald Gilbert.
Dawn was born on August 25, 1943 in Troy, New York,daughter of the late Edward and Violet (Dundas) Baker. She received her Associates Degree from Casanova College. Dawn operated a Early Childcare Business from her home for many years and provided many children their educational start. Dawn was a lifetime member of the West Hoosick Baptist Church and attended the Hoosick Baptist Church. She was a very active member of the West Hoosick Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Choir and held many other positions at the church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors other than her husband Don include their children Tracey (Dave) Wheatley of
Watervliet, NY,son Erik (Kristen) Gilbert of Albany, NY, brother Donald (Paula) Baker of Hoosick Falls also two grandchildren Ben Wheatley and Sammi Gildea.
Funeral services will be Thursday November 13,at 12 noon from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, New York. Burial will follow the service at the West Hoosick Cemetery in West Hoosick, New York. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 am until the start of the service.
Dawn's family would like to thank Dr. James Carroll, Dr. Les Goldstein, Dr. Andrew Coates, Dr. Ronald Mench, staff at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, staff at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, niece Lisa Begin and sister-in-law Paula Baker for all the love and caring they gave to Dawn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation through the funeral home.
